Colon

While circular  muscle layer is well  developed in the colon, its longitudinal muscles are found only in certain areas. Here the circular muscle is seen clearly as red. Examine the microscope to see the disposition of its longitudinal muscles.

Colon can be distinguished from the rest of the gastrointestinal tract by the absence of villi.
