Causes Diagnosis Management
  • Crushing injuries (comminution)
  • Direct blow (comminution)
 
  • Reduction
  • Splint finger by strapping to neighbor finger for 4 weeks if fracture is stable
  • Aluminium splint (or Sheffield splint) for unstable or displaced fractures for 4 weeks on the affected finger only.
  • Kirschner wires with exposure of the phalanges if the above unsuccessful
