Causes Diagnosis Management
  • Severe violence to pelvis as in fall from height or being run over by vehicle which cause displacement of fracture.
  • Displacement must occur if there are more than one single fracture.
  • Multiple fractures sometimes occur with dislocation of sacroiliac joint or pubic symphysis

  • Rule out soft tissue injuries exist- e.g. urethral damage etc.
  • Reduce displacement and hemipelvic fragment through the use of skeletal traction applied through tibial tubercle.
  • Then use hip spica or pelvic sling to immobilize for 8-10 weeks
