Isolated
injuries to the pelvic cavity
or girdle causing displaced single fractures, mostly through fall in sports.
For example, horse riding.

Severe
violence to pelvis as in fall from height or being run over by vehicle which
cause displacement of fracture.

Displacement
must occur if there are more than one single fracture.

Dislocation
of sacroiliac joint or
pubic symphysis occurs with usually one single
fracture- both leading to displacement.

Single
displaced fractures can be treated with surgical excision of small fragment.

See if soft tissue injuries exist-
e.g. urethral damage etc.

Reduce
displacement through the use of skeletal traction applied through
tibial
tuberosity.

Then
use hip spica or pelvic sling to immobilize for 8-10 weeks
