Causes Diagnosis Management
  • Common with heavy objects falling on foot.
  • Causes fractures to shafts of metatarsal bone mainly.
  • Usually includes bruising, crushing, contusion and other injuries to soft tissues.
   
  • Reduction.
  • Swelling should be treated by elevation.
  • Early mobilization with elevation is essential and also well padded plasters
  • Use below the knee walking plasters after reduction in swelling
  • Decompress nail bed by drilling away hematoma which is quite painful.
