• Metacarpal II fracture may be caused by blow on dorsum of hand on ball of thumb.
• Punching
• May be shaft or neck fracture, or oblique, spiral, transverse.
• Stable fracture

• Inspection
• X-ray

• Reduction
• Immobilise by splinting finger with its neigbor.
• To avoid dropped knuckle complication which follows angulation of the metacarpal fracture, place in a Colles' fracture plaster.
