Causes Diagnosis Management
  • Caused by blow with fist or blunt instrument to the face.
  • May be caused by crushing injury to face as in road traffic accidents
  • A midline blow may cause bilateral condylar fractures and also local bone injury.
  • Reduction is performed under general anesthesia.
  • It must be able to restore normal bite to the teeth
  • Wire lower to upper jaw for immobilization.
  • It is also possible to do internal fixation and open reduction using direct wiring above the lower border of mandible.
