• Rupture of medial collateral ligament of interphalangeal joint of hand is not common.
• Direct injury caused by forced abduction at interphalangeal joint

• Inspection
• Tenderness on the joint.
• Loss of function: Inability to extend or flex phalanges.
• X-ray

• Reduction is spontaneous
• Use aluminium splint immobilization for the particular finger affected.
• Open reduction and surgical reconstruction only if collateral ligament is caught between the joint surfaces.
