Causes/features Diagnosis Management
  • Rupture of medial head of gastrocnemius can be caused by fall from height.
  • It includes some measure of twisting of the ankle at time of injury
  • Affects the young adult and the middle aged
  • Affects mostly athletes.
 
 
  • Elastic support bandage.
  • Raise heel of shoe about 2-3cm and shoe is worn for 3 weeks.
  • Ambulation without stretching of calf.
  • Return to sports 6-12 weeks later.
