Uncommon Direct blow to the lateral side of leg- abduction injuries. This is very uncommon because the shaft of fibula is protected by peroneal muscles (longus, brevis, tertius). Common fibular fracture includes lateral malleolar. It is commoner to have tibia and fibula fractures together than fibula alone. Road traffic accident	History: Direct or indirect violence Inspection: Examination: Compressing fibula against the tibia leads to pain being referred to site of fracture. X-ray	Reduce. For those over 45 years: Immobilize in long plaster cast for 4 weeks. No weight bearing until 10 weeks For those below 45 years use internal fixation after exposure, with transverse screw and bolt. Then immobilize for 4 weeks and then mobilize knee.
