EEmergency tracheostomy

Tracheostomy is a procedure performed to open the trachea in order to allow passage of air in and out of the airways in order to avoid suffocation and death. If it is meant to be permanent it is considered a tracheotomy, but if temporary it then a tracheostomy. But the difference is now blurred in modern surgery and both are now considered to be the same.
