Schizophrenia

 

One of the functional (the most prominent) of the functional psychotic disorders. It is characterized by disorders of language, perception, thinking, affect, volition and social activity. It begins usually in late adolescence and progresses into severe florid symptoms in later life which would include chronic delusion and hallucinations. It usually presents with two primary type symptoms which are referred to as positive and negative. Positive symptoms are delusions, hallucinations and conceptual disorganization), while negative symptoms include anhedonia, decreased emotions, loss of concentration and loss of social activity.

It has four main subtypes
