Amygdala

 

 

Amygdaloid nuclear complex (amygdala, amygdaloid body etc) forms the basal ganglia with the corpus striatum. It is very much related to the paleocortex more than the basal ganglia. Hence sometimes the term basal ganglia is synonymous with corpus striatum.
