Neutrophil band

Neutrophil band is formed between the stage of neutrophil metamyelocyte to the mature neutrophil during granulopoeisis. The banded neutophil has a sausage  shaped nucleus. This is the giant cell of the bone marrow from which mature platelets are derived which then wander from the bone marrow into peripheral blood. They are also called juvenile neutrophils.
