Tetanus

 

Infection with Clostridium tetani in wounds or in umbilical cord (funicitis). Tetanus toxin is a powerful neurotoxin called tetanospasmin that cause convulsive contractions of voluntary muscles  and also spastic paralysis by the blockage of release of GABA, a neurotransmitter at the motor end plate.
