Persistent truncus arteriosus

This is one of the cyanotic heart disease, causing cyanosis at birth. In this condition the embryological truncus arteriosus persists and hence connects with the aorta and a short pulmonary trunk. The truncus arteriosus overrides the left and right ventricles so that blood flows into it from both sides.
