Osteopetrosis

 

This a disease of defective osteoclastic activity in which bone is overdeposited leading to brittle and easily fractured bone and loss of medullary cavity with consequence of diminished hematopoiesis. It is caused by mutation in the genes for carbonic anhydrase II and CIC-7 chloride channel.
