Injuries to ulna

Causes Diagnosis Management
  • Fall on outstretched hand can cause injuries to ulna
  • Common in young adults
  • May occur with fracture of shaft of radius.
  • Palpation
  • X-ray
  • Reduction
  • Alignment must be complete for adult fracture, but in the child, this is not very important
  • Immobilization at 90o flexion of elbow.
  • Full circumference plaster covering elbow and wrist joints only.
  • Internal fixation  after surgical exposure of midshaft of ulna, if the closed method fails.
