DESCRIPTION: This is the shoulder joint proper which provides  a synovial joint cavity between the glenoid cavity of the scapula and the head of the humerus. The glenoid cavity is covered by a rim of fibrocartilaginous tissue labrum glenoidale.

LIGAMENTS: Its articular capsule has thickenings from rotator cuff tendons such as the subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus and teres minor which are attached to it. It also has the following ligaments which help to strengthen the entire capsule.
