Do patient's platelet count and prothrombin time before proceeding

Perform under ultrasound guidance or percuss the liver for its extent

Inject local anesthetic between two lower ribs on the right hypochondrium

Patient holds breath as the needle enters the liver and comes out for 5-10 seconds.
