German measles

 

This condition called Rubella is caused by the rubella virus which is a togavirus. It belongs to the genus Rubivirus. It causes a condition with minimal clinical features and is most times subclinical. It leads to low grade fever, rash and lymphadenopathy. But its infection in the pregnant woman can cause the congenital rubella syndrome with the developing fetus having congenital malformations.
