Dysmenorrhea

 

This is painful menses. It may be cause by two abnormalities

Spastic dysmenorrhea: This has a neural mechanism and it may be treated by presacral neurectomy as well as antispasmodic analgesics.

Congestive dysmenorrhea. This is also called premenstrual syndrome. Pain caused by congestion may occur in the uterus or any other part of the body or other signs like pimples, irritability and lethargy. Symptoms occur before the arrival of menses and clears within 24 hour of beginning of menses.
