Definition:  Sex steroid hormone produced in the interstitial cells of the testis called interstitial cells of Leydig.

Method: Serum. It may be bound or total morning samples.

Normal value:

Female Total 0.21-2.98 nmol/L
  Unbound adult 6.9-107.5 pmol/L
Male Total 9.36-37.1 nmol/L
  Unbound adult 416-1386 pmol/L

 Abnormality : Increased in steroid secreting tumors (e.g Dukumov) of the reproductive tract and adrenal gland, e.g. adrenogenital syndrome.
