Definition:  Glycoprotein produced in the anterior pituitary gland by gonadotrophs.

Normal value:

Female Follicular phase 2-15 U/L
  Ovulatory phase 22-105 U/L
  Luteal phase 0.6-19 U/L
  Postmenopausal 16-64 U/L
Male   2-12 U/L

 Abnormality : Decreased in low production of gonadotropin release factors of the hypothalamus such as LHRH
