ECLAMPSIA   


 

Symptoms: Seizures, headache, blurred vision, coma, oliguria
Special signs: Hypertension
Special investigations: Proteinuria, elevated liver enzymes (SGOT, SGPT), thrombocytopenia.

SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Disease may progress from pre-eclampsia which has proteinuria and mild hypertension but no siezures. Once seizure sets in the frank eclampsia begins. It may progess to HELLP which is more severe with increased mortality.
