Fatty acids

These are simple lipids  which are divided into two groups

  • Saturated fatty acids

  • Unsaturated fatty acids

Animal saturated fatty acids are as follows

  • Arachidic acid

  • Behenic acid

  • Lignoceric acid

  • Palmitic acid

  • Steraic acid

  • Myristic acid

  • Capric acid

  • Proprionic acid

  • Butyric acid

  • Lauric acid

Animal unsaturated fatty acids

  • Linolenic acid

  • Eicosatrienoic acid

  • homo-gamma-linolenic acid

  • Arachidonic aid

  • Cadoleic acid

  • Vaccenic acid

  • Myristoleic acid

  • CIS-9-dodecenoic acid

  • CIS-5-tetradecenoic acid

  • CIS-5,8,11-eicosatrienoic acid

  • CIS-7,10,13-docosatrienoic acid

  • CIS-4,7,10,13-docosatetraenoic acid

  • CIS-7,10,13,16-docosatetraenoic acid

  • CIS-4,7,10,13,16-decosapentaenoic acid

  • CIS-4,7,10,13,16,19-decosahexaenoic acid

  • Caproleic acid

  • Lauroleic acid
