This condition is also called impotence and is caused by the following main factors

  • Psychological factors

  • Physical factors

  • Temperamental causes

  • Drugs (diuretics- thiazides, spironolactone, antihypertensives- calcium channel blockers, methyldopa, reserpine, B-blockers, gunethidine, cardiac- digoxin, gemfibrozil, clofibrate, antidepressants SSRI, lithium, tranquillizers- butyrophenones, phenothiazines, hormones- estrogens, progesterone, corticosteroids, cyproterone acetate, cytotoxic agents- cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, roferon-A, anticholinergics -disopyramide, anticonvulsants, recreational -ethanol cocaine, marijuana )

There is also conditions affecting females called female sexual dysfunctions (FSD)
