Cardiac skeleton and myocardium -histophysiology

The myocardium has been discussed in this link.  Here we say that the cardiac musculature is inserted into the cardiac skeleton which is a fibrous connective tissue representing the hardest portion of the heart and its supporting tissue.   The cardiac fibers maintain an intimate relationship with this skeleton.   Cardiac fibers are specialized in 2 regions of the heart.

a.  Sinu-atrial mode (S A node)

b.  Atrio-ventricular mode (A V node).   At these 2 portions of the heart, cardiac fibers possess an intrinsic capacity for easy excitability and it is from these nodes that excitation is passed to the rest of the cardiac musculature.

 The A V node is connected to the A V bundle.
