Cardiac cycle

 

The events which occur between one heart beat to another are called the cardiac cycle. It starts with spontaneous generation of action potential from the SA node and ends shortly before the beginning of the next.
It invoves the following

  1. Aortic pressure
  2. Atrial pressure
  3. Ventricular pressure
  4. Electrocardiogram
  5. Phonocardiogram

 

They all pass through the following stages

1. Isovolumetric contraction

2.  Ejection

3. Isovolumetric relaxation

4. Rapid inflow

5. Diastasis
