Pharmacology of pharynx

 

Lozenges are known to act directly on the throat as in sore throat (isthmic faucitis -tonsilitis) and also in frank pharyngitis. More serious pharyngitides as in Vincent's infection, diphtheria and whooping cough are best treated with parenteral chemotherapy.
