A disease of variable or often paroxysmal dyspnea caused by narrowing of bronchioles. It arises from chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory epithelium as a result of hypersensitivity to agents which include allergens, pharmacologic, environmental, occupational, infectious, occupational and emotional and exercise.
