Compound presentation

In compound presentation a limb prolapses with presenting part. The combination may be head and arm and foot or breech and hand. This presentation is usually caused by an ill-fitting presenting part and cord prolapse may also occur with it.

Management is by pushing away the limb in order to allow normal delivery; sometimes Caesarean section is the best means of delivery.
