Archeae

Archeae were discovered not too long ago and they may be either classified according to Woese method as a separate domain or under the superdomain Procaryota. They are found in environmentally challenged areas such as in hot springs and areas of volcanic eruptions since some of their species are hyperthermophiles. They are the most primitive of all biological organisms and resemble more of chemical than biological units. They are further divided into five groups as follows

  • Crenarchaeota
  • Euryarchaeota
  • Korarchaeota
  • Nanoarchaeota
  • Thaumarchaeota
