Hirudo medinensis

Annelids consists of segmented worms having perivisceral coelomic cavity. Segmentation is metameric. They all possess external cuticle which differs from the arthropod cuticle in being non-chitinous. There are about six groups in this phylum :

            1)         Polychaeta        e.g.       Arenicola

            2)         Oigochaeta       e.g.       Allolobophora

            3)         Archiannelida    e.g.       Saccocirrus

            4)         Echiuroidea      e.g.       Bonellia

            5)         Sipunculoidea   e.g.       Phascolosoma

            6)         Hirudinea           e.g.       Hirudo
