Reticulocyte count

 

Definition:  Reticulocytes are new red bood cells and their population indicates the rate of formation of new blood.

Method:  

Normal value: 0.5-1.5%; 25,000-75,000 cells/m

Abnormality :  High in anemias, especially post-hemorrhagic anemia
