Sarcoptes scabei

Scabies

This is caused by the human itch mite called Sarcoptes scabei. They burrow into skin and gravid female release eggs at a rate of 2-3 per day . Nymphs of the eggs mature in about 2 weeks and then then mate to reinvade the skin of the same individual. Its transmission is aided by intimate contact with infected persons, supported by crowding and uncleanness, to include multiple sexual partners which then qualifies it to be a sexually transmitted infection. It forms papules and vesicles with some eczematous plaques.
