Hirsutism

Excessive hair in men and women in areas of the body where it is normally absent, such as the chin, chest, face etc. It can be caused by increased level of androgen hormones and the amount and location can be measured by the Ferriman-Gallwey score. It is diffferent from hypetrichosis which is excess hair anywhere in the body. And it may be caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome, Cushing syndrome and phenytoin therapy.
