Herpes simplex

 

A disease caused by Herpes virus 1 (herpes simplex virus; HSV-1) and 2 (Herepesvirus hominis; HSV-2). The clinical feature of  the two are similar in genital herpes. The two agents can cause disease in other areas of the body such (Herpes simplex) as mouth and lips (herpes labialis), finger (herpetic whitlow); skin (herpes gladiatorum); ophthalmic herpes and herpes of the central and peripheral nervous systems.
