Acne vulgaris in the young

This is a chronic skin disease which is caused by blockage of the  haiir follicles called pilosebaceous units. It is either non inflammatory, inflammatory or both, affecting the face mostly but also the back and the chest. It develops as a result of four factors

1. follicular epidermal hyperproliferation causing the blockage of pilosebaceous units (or follicles)

2. excess sebum production

3. presence and action of Propriobacterium acnes

4. inflammation
