Histochemistry of yellow elastic fiber

Biochemistry
The yellow elastic fiber is found in yellow elastic cartilage and in many connective issues. It contains elastin as its protein. Elastin does not yield gelatin when boiled and contains very little hydroxyproline. It is broken down in the intestine by elastase.
