Vagina

 

  

The vagina is lined with stratified nonkeratinised squamous epithelium.  Its mucosa is placed on a muscular layer consisting of an outer longitudinal muscle layer and an inner circular muscle layer.  The muscle layer of the vagina is made up of unstriated muscle fibers and therefore not under the control of the vagina.

      Its mucosal coat is covered with stratified squamous epithelium which is not provided with glands and also not keratinised although it is shed periodically. It s provided with epitheliocytes
