Secretory granules

Secretory granules are manufactured from the products of Golgi apparatus. They are exported from the cell by various mechanisms, which may include exocytosis, extrusion etc.

Secretory granules are apical in exocrine cells but basal in endocrine cells.

They may be recognized by the shape which is specific for  different cells, especially hormone producing cells. Other storage vesicles exist in the cytoplasm. They are lipid or carbohydrates which are membrane-bound and exist in form of vesicles.
