Urinary bladder

The urinary bladder has transitional epithelium lining its internal surface. It is a leakage-proof epithelium which does not allow urine to be absorbed back  into the blood.

Differential diagnosis:  The urinary bladder can be confused with luminal organs with large outer coat musculature such as tongue and esophagus. Esophagus and trachea have stratified squamous while the urinary bladder has transitional epithelium.
