Testis

The testis is made up of functional units called seminiferous tubules. These contain germ cells in various stages of development. The most primitive are in the periphery of the tubules while the mature ones are in the center (spermatids). The spermatids are held by Sertoli cells as they complete their final maturational process. Mature cells are smaller than primitive ones. Interstitial cells lie outside the tubules.

Differential diagnosis: Testis can be easily confused with multiluminal organs like kidney and  thyroid gland. The follicles of thyroid gland are smaller and follicular cells are simple cuboidal.  Seminiferous tubules have stratified epithelium
