Pancreas

The pancreas is easily recognized by its many ducts and septa including the acini, which are the basic functional exocrine unit of the organ. The islet of Langerhans are the basic units of the endocrine part of the organ and are prominent features which may be confused with glomeruli of the kidney but which can be distinguished it by the numerous tubules in the latter organ

The basic exocrine unit of the organ is the acinus, which is here shown as pinkish staining , surrounded by bluish staining secretory cells.

Differential diagnosis:  The exocrine glands with numerous ducts and acini like breast salivary gland and even thymus can be confused with the pancreas.
