Arterial arches video -Interactive video text

The haemocytoblast appears in three regions

  1. Yolk sac
  2. Cardiogenic area
  3. Umbilical region
  4. They are differentiated from the mesenchyme of these areas and form blood vessels as follows

From the yolk sac the vitelline vessels are formed. The dorsal aortae are formed from the cardiogenic area. The umbilical vessels are formed from the umbilical region.

The bone marrow becomes the centre of haemopoiesis at about the 3rd trimester, taking over from the spleen and the liver.
