Special signs: Edematous nasal mucosa; profuse catarrhal discharge- rhinorrhea; sometimes bacterial superinfection

SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Rhinitis may be allergic or infectious. The infectious rhinitis refers to common cold, coryza, etc. It causes the nasal mucosa to become edematous and erythematous and to produce copious catarrhal discharge. It is caused by adeno and rhinoviruses.

Allergic rhinitis is hay fever. It is IgE mediated immune reaction. It has also, mucosal edema , esinophil-rich infiltrates and erythema.
