The region of the body which extends from wrist to the distal parts of fingers anteriorly. It has the following structures.

BONES: Carpus, metacarpus, phalanges of hand.

Muscles (intrinsic):

Thenar muscles:
Abductor pollicis brevis Flexor pollicis  brevis Opponens pollicis

Hypothenar muscles: Abductor digiti minimi Flexor digiti minimi (brevis) Opponens digiti minimi


Intrinsic and short muscles:  Palmaris brevis Adductor pollicis Lumbricals Dorsal interossei Palmar interossei

Extrinsic and long muscles: Flexor digitorum superficialis tendons, Flexor digitorum profundus tendons, Flexor pollicis longus tendon.

 Spaces: There are six spaces as follows - midpalmar space, ulnar bursa, radial bursa, thenar eminence compartment, hypothenar eminence compartment, pulp space

Arteries: Radial artery, ulnar artery,.

Veins: Radial and ulnar veins

Nerves: Median nerve, ulnar nerve
