A ridge which extends from the anterior superior iliac spine to the posterior superior iliac spine posteriorly at the superior border of ilium. It has three lips as follows- outer lip (attachment for external oblique muscle of abdomen, tensor fasciae latae) intermediate lip (attachment for internal oblique muscle of abdomen) and inner lip (attachment for transversus abdominis). The outer lip provides a tubercle of iliac crest at its middle.
