Diaphragm

This is the fibromuscular structure which is placed between the thoracic and the abdominal cavities and helps to regulate the process of respiration.

Openings

Caval opening.

This opening in the diaphragm is placed at the level of T8 vertebra. It is placed within the central tendon of the diaphragm. It transmits the following

bulletInferior vena cava

Esophageal opening:

This is placed at the level of T10 vertebrae. It transmits the following

bulletEsophagus

bullet

Gastric nerves

bulletEsophageal branches of left gastric artery
